The Dytran 1203V series is a family of ring-style IEPE force sensors offered with sensitivities between 0.5 and 50 mV/lbf. The industry commonly refers to these sensors as “force washers”, due to their similar appearance. Units were designed to measure rapid or slowly changing dynamic forces in machinery and in other applications where a thru stud or bolt holds the sensor in place in a preloaded condition. The 1203V series can measure vibratory compressive forces over a wide frequency range and unidirectional pulsing forces from punch and forming presses and other repetitive force applications as well as impact forces. As IEPE sensors, the 1203V series features built-in electronics, eliminating the need for an external charge amplifier and converter.

The 1203V series is offered in five models, with available full scale ranges from 100 to 10,000 lbs. Design of the 1203V series features a quartz sensing element, operating in compression mode and packaged in a rugged stainless steel housing weighing 50 grams. Units utilize a 10-32 radial connector, thru-hole mounting and are hermetically sealed for reliable operation in high-humidity and dirty environments.
